It was sunny on Tuesday morning when many of the teams that have now arrived in Helsinki, did their first or second training in Oulunkylä ice rink. At least Korea, China, Japan, Canada, USA and the Netherlands were present in the morning.
We interviewed shortly Koki Kubo of Japan and Brooklyn McDougall of Canada before they started their training on the ice. Both of them will participate in the World Junior Championships for the first time.
Kubo has won 1000 m twice in the Junior World Cup events and his main goal is set for that distance in the World Junior Championships as well:
– My dream is to become the Champion on 1000 m, he told.
He will skate also 500 m and Team Sprint.
McDougall will skate 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and Team Sprint.
– I am glad to get more experience on an international level and I’ll try to do the best I can, she told. She is used to train indoors but has some experience on skating outdoors as well.
