Allround winner in the World Junior Speed skating Championships 2016 in ladies, Elizaveta Kazelina ruled 1000 m, 1500 m and 3000 m. On 1000 m, Daria Kachanova from Russia won the silver medal and Mei Han from China won the bronze medal. Both of them will continue in the junior level next season. Their top competitors are Ji Woo Park from Korea (4th on 1000 m), Béatrice Lamarche from Canada (5th on 1000 m) and Nan Sun from China (6th on 1000 m).
On 1500 m, Esther Kiel from the Netherlands took the silver medal and Lamarche took the bronze medal. Only Lamarche will continue in the junior level the coming season. Her top competitors on 1500 m are Han from China (4th on 1500 m) and Park from Korea (5th on 1500 m). On 3000 m Park took the silver medal and Kiel the bronze medal. The coming season, Park’s top competitors are the Chinese Han (6th on 3000 m) and Dutch Sanne In ‘t Hof (7th on 3000 m).
On 500 m, Kachanova was the fastest, Min-Jo Kim from Korea the second fastest and Kazelina was third. Both Kachanova and Kim will continue in the junior level next season. Their top competitors are Chinese: Mei Han (4th on 500 m), Xue Lin (5th on 500 m) and Nan Sun (7th on 500 m)
The mass start winner was Ayano Sato from Japan. Esther Kiel became second and Béatrice Lamarche third. Sato and Kiel will no longer be juniors next season. Therefore, Lamarche will have as top competitors Pia-Marie Powik from Germany (6th in mass start) and Mei Han from China (7th in mass start).
